What is JPH Training?


Jon-Paul is an experienced coach who has a great understanding of training and biomechanics. He can design programmes specifically   for your needs that will help you reach your goals.  When planning a training programme to reach a certain goal their are many factors   that have to be taken into account ie your training history, whether you are injured or have been injured in the past, your current level of fitness, your strengths, your weaknesses, your previous best performances, the time you have available to train, and the total "free" time you have available.  Without taking these factors into account and adjusting your plan accordingly throughout the build-up it is not  possible to get the best out of yourself. A generic training plan that you find in a book or online does not take these things into account, and as we well know everyone is different and therefore, they need to train differently.

Your training must be personalised

Jon-Paul has experienced the highs of having a very successful build-up and event, as well as the lows of training specifically for an event and not being about to start, or not being able to deliver a perfect performance, due to injury, sickness, or other factors.  The majority of the training advice given or knowledge used is based on his experiences of what actually works in the real world not what theoretically works.  Anyone can read some books or articles and then be able to write a training plan, but there is an art to get the balance right, so that our performance increases throughout the training period.


Jon-Paul is a firm believer in his client understanding their training.  Being able to achieve your goal or perform on race day is a science and not magic. In a good training programme there is a reason why a training season is planned and if there is no reason why are you doing it? And if you don't know why you are doing it you can't be 100% invested in the session.  Do yourself a favour and get yourself a plan that is designed for you, that you can understand, that helps you reach your goals, and helps you get the most of your training!

Training Programmes

I have been successfully coaching cyclists, runners, triathletes, and multisport athletes over the last 14 years. I can design a training programme specifically for your sport, and your goals within the sport.  The programme is designed to help you reach your desired goal through specific build-up training sessions. These are aimed at giving structure, focus, and guidance through every step of your preparation towards your main goal. Jon-Paul believes that It is important that your training is of a very high quality and to some this may mean a  reduction in training volume, but it will result in a better feeling and also better results.  Our training is preparation for our goal, and when our training is poor the outcome from our event or goal can only reflect the training. Less Rubbish= more results.

Silver Class

10 € per week (Minimum 10 Weeks)- This plan will be written after an initial consultation and will be based on your goals. This plan is loaded onto a online platform that you and I will be able to access your training plan and update it.

Platinum Class

17 € per week (Minimum 10 Weeks)- This plan will be written after an initial consultation and will be based on your goals. This plan is loaded onto a online platform that you and I will be able to access your training plan and update it. Your training plan will be updated every week, so that it meets your current needs and is adjusted to any injuries, fatigue, or problems that you have. When you have a problem during the week your training will be adjusted and updated within 24 hours. Skype and E-Mail contact is also included in the price.

Personal Training Sessions

These are one on one indoor or outdoor Personal Training Sessions which I will design and cater to your goals and needs. These can be regular sessions designed for your specific health goals, individual training sessions to take you through a new training programme, or individual training sessions to analyse and improve your resistance training for a sport. As the title states these are personal training sessions. The session is specific to you, your needs and wants. The programme and sessions will be adjusted to suit you. This will help ensure that you reach your goals not someone elses. We can train indoors, outdoors,  or at your house. The choice is yours.

 

75€ for 60 minutes.

105 € for 90 minutes.

330 € for 5 1 hour sessions.


Running Technique Sessions

I can help!! I will slowly progress your ability from a shuffle to be capable of running a trouble-free marathon. These sessions are perfect for someone who already has a training programme, but requires analysis of their running technique to help them become more efficient and faster. By becoming more effecient as a runner we reduce the load that we place on our body, which reduces the risk of being injured, but also means that we can either run for longer with the same amount of energy that we had previoulsy required for a shorter distance, or run faster.  Everyone can learn how to run and they can also improve how they run.  Forget about spending extra money on a training camp and use a lot less to change the way that you perform forever.

Personalised Bike Fitting

I have adjusted hundreds of people on their bikes over the last 10 years and each time they have become more comfortable, can ride faster, and spend more time on the bike without pain. Regardless of whether your cycling is recreational or performance focused I can assist you.

The analysis takes place in a controlled environment with your bike placed on a home trainer where I record videos of you cycling under various training loads, and analysis them frame by frame. I will not only look how how you seat on the bike, but also check to see whether the problem is related to how you sit on your bike, or whether it is related to a strength or flexibility problem that you have.

Group or Corporate Training and Event Preparation


Is your group company preparing for an endurance event?  Whether it is a 5km run or a team triathlon I can assist you.  Over the previous few years I have successfully prepared small and large companies and groups of friends for sporting events.  The advantage of training in a group or team environment is that you can be pushed along by others and when things are tough you will also be supported by the group.  Training in a group dynamic is not always easy and making sure that everyone is catered for regardless of ability or knowledge is not a skill every trainer possesses.  However, I have had groups with runners ranging in ability from 1:18 until 2:15 for a half marathon, but I was still able to train them all correct and ensure that everyone was throughly prepared come race day. 

I have also trained companies where the goal was to provide a weekly or fortnightly training that would give them a chance to get out of the office, de-stress, learn something new, have some fun, and also spend time with their colleagues outside of the office.  This not only promotes a healthier and fitter work environment, but sport also bonds people and helps develop a stronger relationship.  This naturally brings improved teamwork during the standard working day.
